…just randomly thinking here.

It’s been over 3 years since I took a divergent path in internet searching and found this site. I won’t delve into all the thoughts and emotions that came to me at that time. Suffice it to say that it was nice to find myself among like thinkers.

As I was wandering around the house in my normal state of (un)dress a couple of nights ago, I realized just how normal it felt to be sans clothing. At one point, DW happened to comment how warm she felt. To which I responded, “Why don’t you just try going nude? Mentally, it’s uncomfortable at first, but you’ll become accustomed to it.” No verbal response came as she crossed the room and bumped the thermostat down yet again. I went upstairs to my cave, and upon coming down later I saw she was still in her gown. I said something like, “Decided not to try it, huh?” And she responded: “I’m not hot anymore.” I didn’t bother to say anything more like, “but you were earlier and you missed the chance to try something really neat.”

It bothers me a little that she feels that way, but she has fought many demons in her life, and I’m not willing to introduce another by “starting something”.

All this to say I’m comfortable in my skin. When I go into the back yard, I barely give it any thought as to whether I’m clothed or not. I’ve even had to stop myself a couple of times before going into the front yard.

I sometimes consider the eternal implications of being comfortable in the clothes our Heavenly Father originally gave our first parents and has so graciously given me. He, himself, and no one less, said, “It is good.” (To which Satan responded, “Hide! You are naked!”) So the eternal implications? Maybe those of us comfortable in our own skin will have one less battle to wage after the transition to our next state of existence. Maybe that will give us some time to help someone else along – or deal with some other Armageddon in our repertoire of Armageddon’s we carry from this life. Certainly there is no way to know in this life for most of us.

And if by chance, just by chance, I was wrong…well, Lord, what is the best way for me to learn differently than I learned on Earth. How do I best learn Your way? And onward I, even we, will progress.

So to bryans_Saturdays, thanks for starting this up. I’m not convinced you had any idea so many would learn so much about themselves by joining and participating in your group, but I’m glad you one day decided to start a group on the web to see what would happen. That group, or forum, or board, became "us". I imagine it’s grander than you ever expected. It is for me. Thanks, again!

I did the same thing today, I was hot so off went the pants and when it got even hotter off went the shirt. It just makes sense, if you are hot, remove the thing keeping the heat in. Also I have never been much or air conditioning, it is nice but only if there really is no other way to stay cool.

So how come Arabs run around the blistering hot desert wearing wool blankets and those cute burka items? Must be like living in an oven. Seems like even if such garb offers protection from the sun, every oasis would be a nudist area.

Someday I'll try to put into words what this website has done for me, it sure has changed my thinking. I guess in some ways it''s like a permission slip.

Some of it is cultural, surely. Same continent, farther south, the Kalahari desert natives wear nothing.

Captain and Argonaut:

Your comment about Arabs and the robes they wear in the desert caused me to smile. The reason they wear the robes is to keep cool. I remember reading an article years ago, probably in National Geographic though I'm not sure, saying that studies had shown the black robes were actually cooler than the white ones, too. It seems the heat from the sun beating on the robe causes an updraft which cools the body.

I just couldn't resist providing that trivia to the forum. Sorry I can't provide a reference.

I have heard the same argument that the robes actually provide insulation. I also think it is a cultural thing to avoid looking to dark. If a people are persecuted in this world it is those of a darker skin tone.

In South Africa the Bantu women caked mud on their faces during the day to keep the sun from darkening their skin.

Okay, I just got back from a something of a Harry Potter-athon. A bunch of us got together to do something that ended up not being possible and we ended up watching The Goblet of Fire and then The Order of the Phoenix and since we had had gone that far we figured we might has well do The HalfBlood Prince as well. We did take breaks between them to get snacks for the next one and discuss things and points of interest and that is where I am taking my Random Thoughts from.

So there is a character named Luna Lovegood and she is a bit...random. One girl at the impromptu movie night said that whenever she watches the movies and sees Luna she instantly remembers a friend she had when she was a young teen that was just like Luna, a bit odd, always off in her own world seemingly naive but really not. People always teased her about the way she was but it never got her down she was just on of those impossibly happy people that wouldn't let anything get to them. Sounded like a really neat person that there should be more of, she became a nurse with the Red Cross and has done two tours or whatever over seas. Good for her, it seemed to me she was built for that kind of work and I am glad someone can.

At the end The Order of the Phoenix one guy made a rather interesting comment. It was as everyone is leaving for the summer and Harry is doing his "We are more powerful because we are friends." speech. He said, "You know...have you ever thought about the fact that they are all wearing underwear in that scene and throughout the whole movie really, of course we never see them but still I have never really thought about that before. Do the actors chose their own underwear or is that selected by the costume guy as well? Think of all the colours and patterns there that we never see but are still part of the movie anyway." My immediate thought was that he was totally right, I never really put much thought until now into what they were wearing under their cloths and also that they are completely naked under their clothes as well. I knew they were, as everyone is, nude under their robes but I never really thought about it before. What would this movie be like if everyone was naked, so I watched The HalfBlood Prince with that in mind. It was eye opening and an exercise in imagination, but still kind of fun.

So that is my random thought of the day, go imagine someone naked today.

I love it, RWB! I was on my house roof today doing some much-needed repairs. Even early in the morning with the temps in the upper 70's - low 80's(F) (low to mid 20's C), the black bitumen roof is hot. My immediate thought was how neat it would be to be able to go nude up there, catching the occasional breeze over my entire body and getting some much needed Vitamin D. So I imagined me naked today.

This was sent to me by my mother, it is funny and uplifting but not skinnydipping related, oh well.

RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed "Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include:
1. Loss of direction
2. Foul vocal emissions
3. Amnesia of origin
4. Lack of peace and joy
5. Selfish or violent behavior
6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
7. Fearfulness
8. Idolatry
9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect. The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required. The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component. No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:
1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Patience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

Because He Lives!

Actually, it is (or used to be) LDS skinnydipper related.

No, no, no.
quote:
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
So, it's funny, all right, funny as an example of the strange things people believe who do not have the fullness of the gospel.

To my way of thinking, this is one of the many differences between LDS and other Christian gospels that makes Mormonism more conducive to Naturism. No Original Sin, no Inherited Fallen Nature, no "naughty bits" in the human body.

I had the same thought too about the reproduced flaw ... flaw. On a related sort or note I heard about a Russian or Hungarian interpenetration or the Garden story where the serpent is replaced by a bird and Eve sins first by leaning on the tree and so mush die and be cast out so she convinces Adam to eat the fruit with her so they both get kicked out and can be together. I just found it interesting that not only could they not eat the fruit but could not even touch the tree. A few pints different but the general point is the same.

It amazing how a few pints will often make different points the same.

P.S. Another joke that Mormons won't quite get.
