Well at least you weren't up on a ladder with your nose to the glass.

Bryan I think this is a very normal reaction. It seems to pop up in situations that we don't expect to find ourselves in but are suddenly thrust into. I have always told the young men in church that they had to make up their mind that they would not do drugs, look at pornography or other major temptations before the situation arose so there would not be any time to waiver as they have already decided the outcome. Kind of like not taking your eyes off a train wreck even when you don't want that image there forever.

I never told myself, "if you are suddenly confronted with a woman stripping behind an open window, don't look." But if it ever happens again, I'm ready!

To my credit, the whole thing lasted about three seconds, so it's not like I stood there gawking for several minutes. But it's still odd how frozen my feet were.

I had a similar incident a few years ago, was up late working on a project and needed to go outside to spray some fixative. Suddenly the light came on in the window and I have to admit, I was stuck and looked as the neighbors college age daughter took off her bra. Still embarrassed by it. She just happened to be home I guess, because I'd never noticed the light on it that room before. And while I agree with Hairybare, it's best to plan ahead so as your not in the situation, not sneaking around at night looking in windows for example, it is usually the unexpected that we never plan for that catches us off-guard and reminds us how weak we sometimes are.

I also think it's not necessarily what we may inadvertently see, but what we do about it, or with that information.

I think rjmma has made a couple of good points, all though I don't think, unexpectedly seeing someone in this situation is a sign of weakness on our part. We are naturally curious. What are we doing with what we have seen.

Just like king David acted upon what he saw when he saw Bathsheba bathing on the roof top. His actions ultimately lead to his downfall, the death of Uriah, and David loosing his eternal reward. As nudists we are going to see people nude, some pretty some not so pretty. Just because we see someone without there clothes is not a sin. Are we acting sexually or inappropriately upon base desires and doing something wrong with it? Inadvertently seeing someone undress in a window is not a sin, but if we return the next night to see it again or if we have inappropriate fantasies about it then it is wrong. Let's not beat our selves up for having natural curious instincts to see what is going on.

FWIW

I think we also have intent on the victim...viewed...seen, if there is no intent by the other person to be seen we may feel ashamed, if there is intent to be blatant about it as in an exhibitionist we feel disgusted or used, if it is a nudist we feel perhaps kinship, or as most no big deal. Intent plays a huge role in many situations.

Tonight my brother took out the garbage and when he got back he looked a little...off. I pressed and got the story. When he was returning from putting the trash bin out for pickup he was walking back and just as he was passing one of the neighbours windows the like went on and just as bryans described instinct or reflex kicked in and he turned and looked to where the light was coming from. He said, there was one of the girls next door taking off her shirt and had nothing one underneath. He said she could not have been more than three feet from the window and would have most certainly seen him had she not been looking up for some reason. He said he froze and just could not move even thought he really wanted too and could not look away. He said he was only frozen for a second of two but it felt longer and when he regained control he darted up against the fence looking away from the window until the light went out then he ran inside. He did not want her to see him and think he was spying on her because he was not, just in the right spot at the wrong time.

I don't think he was embarrassed about seeing her just worried what she might have thought or how embarrassed she might have been. Given yesterdays events I am beginning to wonder if there was some conspiracy in place to get him to see them bare breasted. After I stopped laughing and mocking him(it is in the job description for sister so I had to do it)I told him it was not his fault there was nothing he could do about it and he did nothing wrong plus you have to admire the irony of him fretting about seeing a topless woman while talking to a nearly naked girl, I had removed my shirt and pants but kept my underwear and bra on. I was like so what if you saw her breasts, who is that a new thing for you? Hello, you see me like nearly everyday!

It was just a little funny especially how perfectly it mirrored bryans account and I am sure so many other peoples accounts of when the same thing happened to them. What are you going to do? never go outside or wear blinders so you can't see something you ought not to have seen? No, you deal with it when it happens and if it you don't want it to happen again you take steps.
