| Hey, sometimes it may not work to get together in person. But it would still be great to chat with some of you. Anyone on Yahoo that wants to chat on IM, I would love to meet you and talk. Send me a message and we will plan a time to meet. |

Into, Don't be surprised if you get no response. Most of us are extremely cautious about offers to chat or meet or in any other way identity ourselves to anyone we are not completely familiar and comfortable with. Over the years, some members have become good friends and get together from time to time, usually (or always, as in my case) in a clothed setting. The key is "over the years". It is not unusual for people to join the forum, post a few hook up requests like you did and after a short time wander off into the sunset. This is a discussion forum and it serves that purpose very well. I am not saying you can't make the request - after all you did post in a section called "Let's Get Together", but I just don't want you to get your hopes up, be disappointed and wander off. Join in the discussion, get to know people and then when they feel comfortable with you they may desire to "chat" or meet. |

Hey I understand that people are going to be cautious (including myself). That is why I suggested an IM conversation because then identities stay hidden but we can have an open conversation. As I am trying to understand the place that nudity plays in my life, I don't necessarily want to open post questions or comments that I may have for others. That is all I was looking for.
Thanks for the reply Argonaut. If no one is interested in chatting, then that is cool. I won't get my hopes up. |

I have never been much for chatting via. keyboard, other then forum chats.....that have......long pauses.........between posts and replies. besides with live chats there is less time for filter and edit what I say, you might find out just what I really am like. It takes a lot of effort to make myself sound this good and a lot of editing. If you thought I was weird before; and if you didn't then you would after talking to me unfiltered.
The best way to chat is still in person though, and only with some you you know really well and accepts you in all your uniqueness. Only 40% of language are the words spoken when communicating, the rest is non verbal communication like tone, pace, and body language.
"They draw near unto me with their lips but their hearts are far from me." From the New Testament somewhere (Matthew 15:8 and Isaiah 29:13)
However, since this is an online forum 40% will have to do. Makes me wonder what the other 60% of what you are saying is? or what you think it is I am saying?
Well I guess we will just have to read each other in the Tapestry of this Forum. |

RWB just taught me a real lesson. I thought we were understanding all about each other from what we post. Now, I find out that I am missing out on 60% of what/who you really are. This is causing me to worry cuz the other 60% may be even weirder than the 40% I am seeing For some of us, especially me, that is a really scary thought!! |

| I have to agree with you there Usher. I think I've read almost every post in the entire forum and the person I feel like I know the most has posted probably less than 20 times. The reason why I know this person better than anyone else in this forum is because we email and share photos and information over Facebook. I really don't know what all the "caution" is about. Most of us here have at least two major things in common; we are LDS (we share common beliefs and standards) and we prefer to be au natural. I'm pretty sure this is a rare combination of commonalities. Unfortunately intothewoodsbare we are not from the same area, so meeting will be difficult. I do have MSN and Facebook though so anytime you or anyone else wants to chat or really get to know each other better, just let me know and send me an email. |

Thanks Kryptonian.
As I posted on my other posting, have you considered making the whole forum private to just members? |

I hope not. Facebook is the only site I have ever "joined" without knowing what was in it (on it?) beforehand. In another thread you can find my displeasure at such a thing. I only joined because I learned that my children were posting there and I wanted to keep up with their children.
I don't want to see this as "member only". I rambled thru here several times before joining so that I could participate. But I darn sure wanted to know what was here before I signed on. |

I got to agree with that. I would never have joined had I not read a great deal of the stuff here beforehand. I like to know what I am getting into beforehand.

| I'm chiming in also. I first found Alan Palmer's site, but never joined, something about joining a naturist group made me uncomfortable. I found this site and it was open, I could tell what kind of things people were posting. I knew it was a safe online community, so one time when I wanted to chime in about something I took the plunge and joined. I've since joined the Palmer's site as well (it's dead there). Ask any question you want, it will get answered. Argonaut or Bryan will give you deep, well thought out, considered answers, and I'll give you the smart*$$ answer. |

I use to be good for a few smart a$$ answers myself, back in the day. I've got no problems with chatting online, some of my best friends have come from this forum and the people that gather here are usually top notch.
Krypto & Woods, I sent you an email. |

Woods, this is a great question, and I'm glad you asked it. No doubt others have (or are) wondering the same thing. I know some people have never joined, or joined but then left, because it's public. As the owner of the forum, I get the occasional email from people saying "please delete me account and remove all my posts. I'm afraid of being found out."
I've heard first hand from other people via private emails who have said they could never join this forum because it's public and everyone can read what you say. While this is true, it's also true that's IT IS 100% POSSIBLE to join and participate and still remain totally anonymous. You are required to supply a valid email to join, but you can go to Yahoo or Gmail and create any email you would like. It doesn't need to be your work or personal email. This site does record your IP address, but neither your IP address nor your email account is EVER available to anyone other then the three forum admins. And we won't and don't share them around. (Why would we?)
The only possible way anyone could ever find out that you personally have joined this forum and are contributing is if 1) they also find this site, 2) they find and read your posts, and 3) recognize you as you from what you have said. The risk of being "found out" is so positively minimal that it's not worth even talking about (but it still comes up from time to time ).
Now, if you are worried about your wife and/or kids finding out you are on this forum, well, that's another matter altogether. And if you are worried about that, then I'd say you don't belong here anyway. And, even if the forum were 100% private, there would still be that risk.
I should also add... from the very beginning, this forum was created with the express intent of being a PUBLICLY OPEN forum. Why? For the very reason some of the people below have said.... I wanted the thoughts and ideas shared to benefit everyone, and not just the few select people who were members. I figured that the very minimal (virtually non-existent) risk of being discovered was far, far outweighed by the good that would come from having this forum be public.
If you have ideas and questions you would rather share in public (even though we don't know who you are), no problem! Find someone you'd like to ask or chat with and use the "send a message" to send them a note.
All in all, having this forum be public works out well, and I'm pretty sure it's going to stay that way ! We welcome you with open arms and hope to get to know you better.

I would have to agree with rjmma and Bryan. It would have been really unfortunate if I had not come across this forum as a nonmember. I now know that I am not an outcast and that there are others out there that can help guide me along in my belief that nudity, in the right setting, is not evil. In fact, I have now been able to convice my wife that with just the two of us at home now, there is nothing wrong with being naked. Unfortunatley she is still too engrained in the clothed society rules to join me. Maybe in the future.
